Most backyard gardeners know that squirrel damage can be a major problem in your flowering or vegetable garden. Finding ways to repel squirrels is difficult, time consuming and expensive.

Squirrels in your plants seem to win many battles, but hopefully you can win the squirrel war with this homemade recipe squirrel repellent. Using a strong mixture of hot peppers might just be the trick to chase squirrels away!

Homemade Hot Pepper Squirrel Repellent

  • Two gallon bucket
  • Rubber gloves
  • Water
  • Dish Soap
  • Hot Chili Sauce – 8 ounces
  • Spoon with long handle
  • Funnel
  • Hand held sprayer

How to Mix the Homemade Squirrel Repellent and Chase Squirrels Away

Using rubber gloves, fill your two gallon bucket with one gallon of water. Into this mix put the 8 ounces of chili sauce and put a healthy dose of dish washing soap into the bucket, too.

Stir the contents of the bucket being careful not to splash any of the squirrel repellent mixture into your eyes.

Using the funnel, pour the contents of the bucket into a two gallon pump sprayer.

Spray your garden, flowers and vegetables liberally with this mixture.

Discard the rubber gloves after you are finished so they do not contaminate anything else in your workshop.
